So, Sunday was the 50th anniversary party of my in-laws and I admit that the champagne was flowing...thank GOD it's made from a plant. And, I gotta tell you, the Peninsula makes great Bloody Marys...mmmmmm...
So, yes, I took advantage of the "but Sunday's are exempt!" rule and had dessert. The meal itself was vegan and really quite tasty...and served by a culinary SWAT team! I'm telling you...the service was great! All of these polished guys descending on the room with our entrees. Granted there were only five tables but still...very impressive!
The meal was mole chicken, asparagus and rice. We got everything but the chicken and they added a few veggies to the plate. I think I'm liking haricot verts! And I'm not a fan of green beans but these are French. I think it makes a difference...LOL. And no offense, Mom, but I think I've been forever turned off by the mushy green beans we had growing up...but your lasagna is the best! Who knew an Irish girl could make such great lasagna! But I digress...
So...dessert...the orange flan wasn't bad and there was only a little bit of it (since the Peninsula is kind of a small, fancy food place) and the tres leches cake was dry so I didn't have much of that. But, my sister in law got a cake (just for pictures) and I had a little bit of that...mmm...caaake...my favorite. Truth be told, I wasn't that interested in it. It could be because it was yellow cake with vanilla frosting (I like chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream) or perhaps my taste buds have changed. So, instead, more champagne! Hooray!
Yesterday I just didn't feel like writing. Truth be told, I was really tired. I think it was a combo of champagne and a little bickering between me and Pep which left me peeved...and when I'm peeved I never sleep well. But, we got over it the next day. We had to go to the eye doc's and I still have to put the drops in my eyes! Argh! Will this never end??
We talked on the way home, after getting more tofu from Whole Foods. Honestly, if I keep everything in then I get really resentful! I think the way to express negative feelings is to preface it with love...and then talk about it from the "I" perspective...
I hate when you...no! Just kidding...I feeeeel statements. It's amazing how good one feels after taking just a couple of minutes to explain. I know I'm being cryptic but the actual argument isn't really important...it's the resolution that counts. And one of the great things I've learned from being married to Pep is to not hold on to things...but, sometimes...
Subject change!
I've lost 3 lbs! (Quite possibly because my period is over...but still!) I realized that we have to watch the food intake. It's easy to think that I can eat whatever I want but it's just not true...although you can eat more since the calories are fewer in the food you eat and the fiber is higher... a lot higher. Hence the copious amounts of gasses.
Oh, and the Gimme Lean "sausage" is pretty good! Good for breakfast sandwiches on whole grain bread with a little Earth Balance Buttery Spread. (The Seeduction bread from WF is really really good.)
OK, off to mail back some vegan shoes...
Honestly...I just can't give up my leather shoes. Since the vegan shoes are all man made, they tend not to stretch and break in as well. Despite their awesome cuteness...I gotta return them. Plus, they're way overpriced for what you get. Sigh...
Cheers!
